Measure a jumper you already like across the chest, lying flat, one inch below the armhole, and match that number in the size guide. Every measurement on this site is of the garment, not of a body.
Neither — it is cut unisex, in XS to XXL. The body is straight with no bust shaping and no side seam shaping, which is why one set of sizes works.
One size larger than the knitwear, deliberately, so they go over a 7-gauge knit without pulling at the shoulder. Size down if you want a shirt fit.
Take the smaller for knitwear: lambswool and Shetland both relax about a centimetre across the chest after the first wear. Take the larger for the boiled wool jacket, which does not relax at all.
The number of needles per inch on the knitting machine. A lower number means thicker yarn and a heavier garment: 5 gauge is jacket weight, 9 gauge is everyday winter weight, 16 gauge goes under a jacket. Each product page lists the gauge and the finished weight in grams.
The Boiled Wool Knit Jacket at 5 gauge and 780 g, then the Fisherman Rib at 7 gauge and 620 g. Warmth here tracks weight almost exactly.
The extra-fine merino at 19.5 micron will not for almost anyone. Lambswool is fine for most people over a t-shirt. Shetland is the crispest and the most likely to be felt against bare skin — it softens considerably after a fortnight of wear.
Yarn is dyed in batches and no two batches are identical. A jumper bought this winter can be half a shade off one bought last winter. That is the material, not a fault.
Every wool knit pills where it rubs — underarm, cuff, and under a bag strap. It stops once the loose fibres are gone. Comb it flat in one direction; do not use a razor. There is more on the wool care page.
None on the outside. No embroidery, no monogram, no print, no woven tab on the pocket or the side seam. The only label is the composition and care tag inside the collar, which is a legal requirement.
No. It is the one customisation we do not offer, because the moment we set up for it the rule stops meaning anything.
No. Every pattern, cut and colourway is drawn in our own studio and knitted to our own specification. We do not copy other companies' designs and we do not sell anything meant to be taken for theirs.
Before 14:00 CET on a working day, the same afternoon; after that, the next morning. Tracking arrives as soon as the label is printed.
60 days from delivery, unworn and with the tags attached. That is far longer than the 14 days the law requires, because a jumper takes a season to judge.
You do, unless the item was faulty or we sent the wrong thing — then we pay both ways.
For 3 years we darn moth holes, re-knit snags and rebuild a worn elbow or cuff, free, including return postage. It does not cover pilling, felting from a hot wash, or stretching from hanging a jumper up wet. Full terms here.
To the UK, Switzerland and Norway. Import duty and local VAT are charged by the carrier on delivery in those three and are not included in the price shown here.
